Anna Grace Pell
Dark Apartment
She was cautious suggested the several deadbolts on the doors,
She was alone suggested the one pathetic night stand,
She was unsatisfied with her life, suggested the newspaper full of circled job listings sprawled
across the kitchen table.
The piles of products strewn across the bathroom suggested she was vain,
The empty fridge suggested she was struggling with funds,
The muddy worn out rain boots suggested she walked to where she needed to be.
The claw marks on the floor boards,
The disheveled rug,
And the broken vase revealed that she had put up a fight, before they stole her away from the
dark apartment that dreary night.
